Pilot Wave Statistics

Particles evolved: 0
Trajectories cross: Never

Instructions

  • Watch particles follow pilot wave trajectories
  • Adjust slit separation for different patterns
  • Notice: trajectories never cross!

De Broglie-Bohm Theory

In the pilot wave interpretation, particles have definite positions at all times, guided by the wavefunction. The velocity is v = ℏ/m × Im(∇ψ/ψ), derived from the phase gradient. The quantum potential Q = -ℏÂē/2m × ∇ÂēR/R creates the "quantum force" that bends trajectories to reproduce interference patterns. Trajectories never cross because they follow streamlines of a deterministic velocity field.
